June Favourites

Hi, hope you all had a lovely June. First of all I’d like to apologise for the lack of posting new material. These last few months have seen lots of changes in every aspect of my life. At the end of May, me and my former partner of 6 years and father of our 11 month old daughter decided to call it quits. So I’m back like living with my parents with a baby.

First night back at home I remember feeling upset and down about the thought of moving back home and been a single parent. I suppose it’s the stigma attached to the single parent status and being 25 theirs that added pressure that you should have a career, be settled down and moving out and here I was doing it all opposite. But then came on the news about the terrorist attack in Manchester, where 22 innocent people lost their lives many of them young children. I spent most of the night crying for those people and their families. Being a new mum one of my biggest fears is anything happening to my child or anything happening to me what prevents me from taking care of my child. As I kissed my child goodnight that night I realised I was blessed and we all are blessed for every moment we get to share and spend with our loved ones. It completely put things Into perspective for me no matter what happens in your life as long as the people who matter to you are alive and healthy, does anything else really matter that much?

Fashion Favourites

Pink Oversized Tailored Blazer with Ruched Detailing on Arms – Primark

The “IT” colour of the season is Millennial Pink. A few year ago if people would have said that I would even buy pink items yet alone love wearing them, and feature them in a favourites, I would have said shuuuutttupp (in my best Essex accent). This blazer instantly brightens up any outfit and makes it look put together with the blazers tailoring and detailing on the sleeves. You can wear this jacket with jeans, dresses, wear it at the office, and on a night out. It’s also lightweight for this seasons weather.

Pink Circle Buckle Shoulder Bag – Primark

Shock horror! Another item in the “IT” season of the colour. This bag definitely looks more expensive than its £7 price tag, with the bird detailing on the buckle. It’s also a great size for carrying my handbag essentials.

Gingham Black & White Checked Crop Top – Boohoo

This top has become my go to when in doubt on what to wear. It looks great on, fits like a glove, comfortable to wear, and is made from good quality material. I’ve been wearing this top with everything from jeans, shorts and skirts. I’ve also dressed it down in the day with a pair of flared hem jeans, and dressed it up at night with a pair of suede black lace up shorts.

Beauty Favourites

Sleek lipstick in VIP night spot shade red

I’ve been wearing this red lipstick for the last month. A bright red lipstick instantly brightens up any look and can take you from day to-night. I love this colour on me as before I bought this lipstick I would never have worn a red lipstick but I feel this colour suits me. It’s a long-lasting bright matte lip colour that’s not too drying. I will definitely be purchasing more sleek lipsticks in a variety of different colours.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Very Black

This mascara is a firm favourite of mine I try others but always try this one again and fall back in love. The formula of the mascara is dark and covers all my lashes it makes them look longer without clumps and doesn’t dry and flake throughout the day. The tiny brush also coats all the lashes and separates them. This mascara also doesn’t irritate my eyes like some other mascaras can do.

Nip & Fab  Dragons Blood Serum

This serum makes my skin feel so moisturised and dehydrated. I definitely feels that it plumps up my skin, calms any redness and stops it from looking dull and dry.  I use this serum in an evening after cleansing and before I use my moisturiser.

Lifestyle Favourites

Feast Of Fools – The Morganville Vampires book 4 – Rachel Caine

I love all things supernatural so after reading and watching vampire diaries, twilight and Harry Potter I needed something else, that’s when I discovered the Morganville book series.  The morganville book series revolve around a group of friends trying to stay alive in a town where no ones what their seem especially after dark. I’d definitely give this a read if you liked the vampire diary’s.

Pukka Night-time Tea

This tea is the perfect drink to have before bed as it’s caffeine free, contains lavender and chamomile both known for their calming effects on the body. I dunno how to describe the taste of this tea but when I drink it, I just feel calm and de-stressed and all cozy and ready for bed.

*all thoughts and opinions on products used in this post are completely my own.

Thanks for reading

March Favourites

Hi,

Was it me or did March just go so fast? I just seemed to blink and bam it’s April. This Month I had a wardrobe clear out, so I treated myself to some new spring clothes & shoes. Let me know if you would like me to do a haul?

Fashion

This Month I’ve been loving my

Embroidered Slogan Denim Jacket – Missguided (Similar Here)

If you’re a regular follower on my blog you know this Denim jacket has featured twice already in my OOTD post’s. I just love this denim jacket. A denim Jacket is a Spring Summer wardrobe staple as it completes any outfit in style whilst providing that extra warmth.  Click on the links below to see how I have previously styled this jacket.

Cry Baby Slogan Ringer T.Shirt

Slogan T.shirts are ‘in’ Style this season and are everywhere. I love this top from Boohoo as it is a really nice fit, & material & doesn’t need ironing. Being a busy mum this is an added bonus. This top goes with anything you can pair it with a denim skirt, jeans, or dress it up with a full skirt.  Click on the link below to see how I styled this T.shirt.

New Look Gingham Embroidered Mules

I did a feature on the trend gingham (read here Trending Tuesday – Gingham ) and I featured these shoes. I fell in love with these bad boys instantly (who even says that nowadays). Two trends in one shoe gingham & embroidery. I can’t wait to feature these in a OOTD post.

Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder.

I actually got this as a christmas gift set for Xmas a few years ago but completely forgot about it to be honest up until i saw Kylie Jenner’s Snapchat make-up tutorial and she used this as a contour powder. I immediately found it out and wished i started using it sooner. Now i know why its featured on so many beauty bloggers pages & videos, it’s the right tone for contouring as it has a greyish tone to it which is perfect and it looks natural. I think I’ll definitely be purchasing the full size powder.

Benefit They’re Real Push Up Eyeliner.

This eyeliners easy to apply, lasts all day and is smudge proof.

Vita Coco Coconut Oil

I had to feature this product as it my all time favourite beauty product. I’ve been using this coconut oil for the last year and now I wont change brands because i know this one works for me. I personally have noticed a difference in the appearance of my stretch marks, they’ve faded. This coconut oil as so many uses ive used it as a hair mask, i even tried oil pulling, and used it to make a salad dressing. I mainly use this oil to rub into my skin daily to treat my stretch marks.

Tequilla & Tea Bags – Laura Barnard

Tequila & Tea Bags by [Barnard, Laura]

I’ve enjoyed reading this book this month as it’s a funny lighthearted read. It made me literally laugh out Loud in places. Rose is sent to live with her Cousin Elsie in a Yorkshire Village but all she dreams about is being a club rep in Mexico. When she gets the Chance to leave will she, or has she fallen in love with the Yorkshire way of life?

Beauty & The Beast Film Review, How Did It Compare To The Original?

beauty-and-beast-2017-5

Good Evening,

So last night I finally give in to the demand of my younger sister & let her drag me along to the cinema to see Beauty & The Beast, (not that i give up much of a fight).

My First Thoughts

My first thought when I heard Disney were doing a live-action remake of the 1991 Disney Cult Classic Beauty & The Beast (My favorite film of all time), was mixed. On one hand i was excited to see a new adaptation of the film, and on the other hand what if they managed to ruin my childhood. let’s face it, remakes hardly ever live up to the classics.

When I heard Emma Watson had the role of Belle, my heart sank a little not that i don’t think She’s a great actress, but to me she’ll always be Hermione Granger. I remember the time i went to see Woman In Black starring Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) & someone shouted Expelliarmus at a scary moment in the film, don’t get me wrong we all laughed but it took away the seriousness of the film, & been a big beauty & the beast fan i didn’t want people to take away the magic of the film.

The Good

I was Shocked and amazed at Emma Watsons singing voice & her acting skills and definitely proved she shouldn’t be typecast-ed. I was also impressed with the acting of  Gaston an his side kick Lefou.

I also liked how the Script writers hadn’t strayed too far away from the original script, there’s nothing worse than going to watch a remake of a film to find out they’ve  completely changed the film. The bits they did change i thought built more on the original story, pleasing fans of the original, and the new generation of fans.

The Bad

Personally for me some of the films characters lacked the personality and the charisma of the originals. I didn’t find myself connecting with ms Potts or Chip, their Mother & Son relationship didnt come across as well on-screen as well as the original. Ms potts lacked the warmth and motherly nature of the original. Chips also lacked the boyish charm of the original.

My Overall Opinion

I enjoyed the film and would watch it again, but for me the original was better, the characters had more personality and warmth about them. But this is the new Beauty & The Beast for the new generation. I rated this film 7/10.

The opinions in this review are completely my own, If your a big Beauty & the Beast fan, it’s worth the watch. If you’ve seen the film let me know your opinions, What did you like & what didn’t you like? Which film do you prefer?

What’s In My Bag

These posts are one of my favourite things to watch & read in the bloggersphere, because well I like been a nosy parker. So I thought I’d share with you lucky readers, what’s in my bag.

Bag

My current bag that I’m using quite a lot at the moment is this black western buckle backpack (primark). I like using this bag as it’s quite spacious, big enough for my stuff and been a mummy I can fit some baby essentials in aswell. It’s also easy to carry, seen as it goes on my back leaving me hands free to carry the baby, or push a pram. It also goes with nearly all of my outfits, plus it looks more expensive than it’s £9 price tag.

TheAccessories

  • Umberella – An umberella is an essential in any British handbag, as you never know when there’s gunna be a sudden downpour. I love the see through design of this umberella, plus it matches my pram’s raincover (completely unintentional).
  • Notebook & Pen – I’ve started to carry a notebook & pen around as I never know where I’m gunna get inspiration from, or I’ll suddenly remember that I need to pay a bill, been a adult sucks sometimes.
  • Sunglasses 😎 just because who doesn’t love sunglasses. Great for hiding hangovers or more recently hiding the bags under my eyes.
  • Passport cover & passport – I need to carry this around to purchase alcohol and other age restricted items, as I was blessed with a baby face.
  • Leather Gloves
  • Purse – the most essential item of them all. This purse is big enough to carry my cards and money which is mainly change at the moment.
  • Dummy – been a mummy I learnt the hard way that it’s essential to carry spare dummies with you. A tantrum in Tesco ensured that I never forget now to carry a spare.

Makeup

I tend not to carry any of my expensive makeup in my handbag as I’m very clumsy and would have a meltdown if it broke.

  • Makeup Bag – this little red bag from No7 was a Christmas gift from my sister & it’s just the right size to hold all of my essentials
  • Makeup brushes – just a powder brush and a blusher brush.
  • Concealer
  • Powder
  • Cream blusher
  • Mascara
  • Lip balm
  • Eyeliner
  • Highlighter
  • Lipsticks – a nude one and a rosy pink colour.
  • Baubles & hairgrips
  • Hand cream
  • Nail file

I also carry in my handbag, a fold up mirror, hand sanitizer and a jack wills body spray.

February Favorites – Fashion & Lifestyle

Hi, in my previous blog post I shared with you lovely readers my beauty favorites so on this blog post i thought id share with you my other February favorites from fashion, accessories, books, recipes and baby food.

img_1407
clockwise Missguided Tan Cropped Trench Jacket & Mini Skirt, New Look, Black Baker Boy Hat, Primark Chokers, Primark Sunglasses, Primark Black Western Buckle Backpack, and Strong Looks Better Naked By Khloe Kardashian Book.

Fashion

In terms of fashion this month, I haven’t bought much as shops and online retailers tend to be preparing for the new season so its mostly end of stock sales. I’m normally all for sales but at this time of year im just eager to shop for the warmer weather, not that we get much nice weather here in England, but a girl can dream right. Anyways i was browsing on my fave online retailer Missguided and  came across this two-piece suit consisting of skirt and jacket and it was love at first sight. I love how i can wear each piece on its own or pair them together &  it looks like im wearing just a trench coat.  I recently wore this outfit with a plain black t.shirt, my faithful black knee-high boots and my black baker boy hat also featured.

img_1408-1
Missguided Tan Cropped Trench Jacket – £35 Missguided Tan Trench Mini Skirt -£25

Accessories

New Look Baker Boy  Hat -£9.99 (now out of stock)

I’ve worn this hat every time i’ve left the house, it’s so versatile and looks good with anything. I love hats & don’t feel my outfits are complete without a hat.

Primark Chokers

I have a serious obssesion with chokers and always tend to buy them nearly every shopping trip. I already have a drawer full, oops.

Primark sunglasses

Like the chokers, I also have an obsession with sunglasses, i recently purchased a black pair of Celine lookalike glasses or as i call them Kris Jenners, and the rose gold cat eye aviators similar to the Quay Cherry Bombs. For £3 each if you lose them or stand on them (which my clumsy self tends to), your less likely to have a meltdown. Even though i am known to have a meltdown over standing on my bargain sunglasses.

Primark Black Western Buckle Backpack – £9

This bag is spacious enough to carry my handbag essentials, but also carry a few baby essentials. It also goes with most of my outfits and its easy enough to carry while pushing a pram or carrying a baby.

Book

Strong Looks Better Naked by Khloe Kardashian

This book is suitable for some light reading and since im on a fitness and lifestyle change (trying to excercise and be more healthier in general). When I don’t feel like doing my excersise i just read a few pages of this and look at Khloes transformation and it motivates me to kick butt and get moving.

Recipes

img_1409

I recently bought the Joe wicks Lean in 15 Sustain Book and ive only tried this recipe but i tend to make it as a turkey bolognaise as when i first trued making it as a lasagna, the pasta sheets stuck together (by no means i am no Gordon Ramsay). The bolognaise tastes better than shop bought jars and this is fast becoming our family favorite meal and its also an healthy option.

Ellas kitchen baby food and Cookbook.

Random I know but as i’ve just started weaning my 7 month old and was finding it hard to make recipes suitable for her to eat, i discovered the Ellas kitchen range and was shocked at the range of baby food and how good it tastes. if youve ever tasted baby food you know that its bland but these pouches are full of flavour and claim to be 100% organic. I’ve just downloaded the recipe book, so look forward to making my own delicious food for my baby to enjoy. i will keep you updated on how the weaning journey goes.

Thanks for Reading
